Deerland Probiotics & Enzymes Expands Branded Probiotic Offering with the Launch of MuniSpore™ Bacillus clausii
Deerland Probiotics & Enzymes, a global supplier of science-backed solutions for microbiome health, has announced the expansion of its branded probiotic spore portfolio with the launch of its newest branded ingredient supporting immune health, MuniSpore™, a science-backed strain of the probiotic Bacillus clausii.
MuniSpore is the probiotic strain Bacillus clausii CSI08, a soil-based microorganism. The beneficial effects of the probiotic B. clausii have been attributed to its ability to positively influence microbial populations and its antioxidant effects on the immune system. More than 20 in vitro studies have been performed to confirm the safety and efficacy of MuniSpore Bacillus clausii CSI08. A full genome sequencing confirmed the strain contained no plasmids, antibiotic resistant or deleterious genes. MuniSpore is GRAS and Star-K Kosher certified.
As a spore-forming microorganism, Bacillus clausii protects itself from harsh conditions until entering an environment ideal for germination, such as the GI tract. This means that MuniSpore remains viable under a wide temperature range and doesn’t require refrigeration. It also survives passage through the acidic environment of the GI tract. Because MuniSpore remains viable under a wide temperature and pH range, the probiotic is ideal for use in supplements, foods and beverages.
MuniSpore is the company’s second spore-forming probiotic strain offering, joining Bacillus subtilis DE111®. “We are pleased to add another probiotic spore to our branded ingredient portfolio,” said John Deaton, vice president of science and technology. Sam Michini, Deerland’s vice president of marketing and strategy, added, “The addition of MuniSpore as an option for formulation allows our customers to address the increased consumer demand for science-backed probiotic products for immune support.”
